| Majolica.
The fired piece was bathed in this preparation and was then put into the oven
using a three-footed base which prevented the ceramic from sticking during
firing. On this glassy covering, the surface of the piece was decorated
with metallic oxides; the mark of the craftsman was placed on the piece
and later it was fired again. The production of majolica with gilded
drawings has been made in Spain since the Arab period.
